A Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) businessman was on Monday arrested by Police ranks after an unlicensed gun with matching ammunition and a quantity of cannabis were found in his possession.The gun and cannabis found by PolicePolice information reveals that the 31-year-old suspect who resides in Silver City, Wismar, Linden was carrying a 9mm pistol with 10 live matching rounds and in excess of 16 grams of cannabis. The businessman was intercepted by ranks on patrol duty at the Aranka trail at the Cuyuni River where he was searched and the items found.He is expected to make a court appearance at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.Just two days ago, 29 persons were arrested during a Police operation in the Agricola, Greater Georgetown and North Road, Bourda areas. They were questioned for offences which range from possession of a firearm and its components, cocaine, and marijuana, and armed robberies.The Police also confirmed that two motorcycles, a number of mobile phones, and other items suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully attained were discovered and confiscated.
A Vancouver woman was arrested in McMinnville, Ore. Sunday on suspicion of robbery after she allegedly pointed a gun at a man walking his dog.The man was walking near a hotel at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday when, he alleged, Lisa Eileen Harris, 47, approached from behind with a gun. The man fled and contacted police, who found Harris sitting behind a movie theater, according to a news release issued by the McMinnville Police Department.The man was not injured.The Vancouver woman was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, pointing a firearm at another person and reckless endangering.Harris was lodged in the Yamhill Correctional Facility in lieu of $165,000 bail.Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Officer Justin James at 503-435-5600, ext. 5957.
